Mew and Mica are kinda like Sailor Moon (minus the skirts and add the skimpy outfits). They both argue and eat too much. The humor, when compared to Sailor Moon, is a bit dry, but I love watching the battle scenes. Now here is the big let-down about this DVD. The live-action version, which was included on the second subtitled VHS tape, isn't included. And extras are no where to be seen (not much to expect from a 2 episode series). Good series, weak DVD, February 23, 2001

There have been many short series in Japan that don’t get much respect. Thankfully, it gets sent to video so people can really appreciate them. And now this type of anime finally gets on DVD, but I am afraid that Pioneer put about as much thought into it as the producers did. He get's angry with them when their machinations get him in trouble.</p><p>I liked the modern setting; sky scrapers and water them park. Add to that the fireworks festival, and villians who despite being giant insects, jellyfish or earthworms were in their way too human. </p><p>Too bad this is the only DVD of the HyperDolls. I know that probably makes them seem less than heroic, but maybe the author decided he wanted his heroines to have a dark edge to them. </p><p>The animation is fair (I've seen much worse-it's better than Poke'mon, at least,) the music score is good, (in the dubbed version, the opening song is also sung in english,) and both the English and Japanese voice actors do a great job of potraying the characters. However, the story kind of drops you off in the middle, and about the only back story you see are some brief imigaes that flash by during the opening song, where we see the hyperdolls coming down to earth. My almost 9 month old daughter totally loves the show and thus she really liked this toy. She immediately recognized it when I opened the box in front of her.

The size of the product is roughly 6 by 6 by 6 inches and the picture can be a little misleading as I was expecting it to be a bit larger. However the size is just right. My kid likes to tote it around and it is the perfect size not to be a nuisance. As far as I can tell it is well built with no parts that can come off.

Very nice, will get another, maybe Magenta.

I purchased this for my 1 1/2y.o. daughter who is a fan of Blue and all things stuffed. It has an incredibly soft, strokeable texture and is very cuddly, perfect for little ones to cuddle with or drag along to day care. I love that it is machine washable. This and all of the other Ty animals that we have bought for our toddler have really withstood being dragged around, dropped, kicked (by a 7y.o.) and washed repeatedly. They have lost nothing in texture or durability.

I purchased this plush and was very happy. It arrived two days before I expected it to. Its absolutely adorable and hasn’t come apart at all. The only thing was that it was smaller than I expected it to be. It’s about 6 or 7 inches tall, but that just makes it easier for me to carry around everywhere. I must say that I am one satisfied fan girl.

Having a Haunted Doll and having seen the first three episodes at an anime con I decided to pick up the first disc. Four episodes, with only one extra in the form of a non-credit opening, you might not wish to buy it without renting it first.
The idea behind the story is simple – Dolls fight each other, to become Alice. Think Highlander with moving, magical Dolls. In order to move or fight they need to use the power, the life force, of a human. That human wears their ring and becomes their servant and source of energy. To become Alice is to become human again. I think.
The Dolls are cute, the setting interesting and the story hooked me when I saw it first in 2005 but it feels like Geneon or Bang Zoom is going cheap on us. Why no other extras? No interviews? No commentary? A lot of animes lately, at least the ones I have been getting, seem to have little in the way of extras.

I bought this DVD because it looked interesting. I found the series to have an unusual plot. I won’t give any details but the show focuses on dolls (if that’s not obvious) but in a way that you normally wouldn’t think. The show is a little dark and isn’t for children probably under 10 but anyone above would probably enjoy it. I’m definitely going to by the next DVD to find out what happens next.

He's used to getting strange stuff in the mail but when he receives a questionaire asking if he can "wind" he responds with a yes. Soon after a odd-looking suitcase arrives and inside is a beautiful gothic doll in the form of a young girl. When he winds it, the "doll" comes to life. Her name is Shinku, the rose maiden, and she acts for all the world like she's a living breathing girl, and an aristocratic one at that! While Jun is trying to figure things out, a malevolent clown doll bursts through the window and begins making threatening moves with butcher knives right out of Psycho. He also wields razor sharp playing cards! Shinku tells Jun that the only way he can save his life is if he "swears". What "swearing" means is that he enters into a symbiotic relationship with Shinku in which she uses his life energy to battle against other dolls, all fighting in the tournament-like Alice Games. If a doll loses a fight, all their energy is drained and absorbed by the winner and the loser turns into just an ordinary lifeless doll. Whoever is the last doll standing becomes "Alice", which I suspect means to become fully human. As is typical with shows like this, some of the dolls that Jun and Shinku encounter will become their friends and others will become their enemies. <br/><br/>Just looking at the cover of this dvd and reading the synopsis on the back didn't really get me too excited. I mean fighting Gothic Lolita dolls going Dragonball Z on each other? I mean, it just seemed completely goofy or meant to appeal to some very maladjusted otaku males. But I was in for a big surprise. The coolest twist of the show is the reversal of the master/servant concept. Usually, in this setup, the male would be the master, albeit a complete loser, and the female would be the catering slave to his every wish, trying to make his life better merely by saying "yes" to everything. In this show, Shinku is the master, ordering Jun about! And for some strange reason, Jun pretty much complies, even though he doesn't want to. Another thing that makes this show unique is that Shinku does try to make Jun's life better, but not through babying him. She's pretty tough, so she throws all his shortcomings in his face, not to make fun of him or hurt him, but to make him aware of just how much he's wasting his potential. I have to admit that the dolls were very cute, but what made them more charming was the fact that they have these mischievous streaks that they try to hide under their innocent looks and voices. Even though the plot of the show is based on a battle tournament a la Fate/Stay Night, very little fighting takes place on this first volume, which was very welcome and which I think will change in future volumes. Don't let the cute cover scare you away.
