The popular and fun anime TV series “Bakugan Battle Brawlers” has spawned a variety of toys, including a strategic game and Tigrerra, a Bakugan Deluxe Monster. Although not officially part of the game, Tigrerra can be used to add atmosphere and excitement to Bakugan battles. Your child aged four and up can also play with this sturdy, fearsome-looking figurine independent of the game.

On the TV show, Tigrerra is the “guardian” Bakugan for the character Runo, so fans of Runo will take special pleasure in playing with Tigrerra. But even children who don’t watch the show can get excited about the Tigrerra figurine, who can rear up to display her formidable claws or stalk her prey on all fours.

No Rules, Just Fun
No assembly is required for this figurine–just cut it free from the box and it’s ready to go! Unlike the Bakugan Battle Brawlers game, which has somewhat complicated rules, this monster figurine can be used however your child likes. If your child is a fan of the Bakugan Battle Brawlers game, he can position Tigrerra and other figurines around the game play area just for fun. If your child doesn’t own the game, he can easily make up his own games to play with the monsters.

Chunky and sturdy, this figurine doesn’t exactly fit in a pocket, but it is still lightweight and easy to take to a friend’s house. Tigrerra comes with a detachable tail.

Hours of Monstrous Entertainment
Tigrerra’s entire body is a “gigantic blade,” and she has four powerful legs that can be positioned in a variety of ways. Her black and yellow markings and the knifelike spines on her back contribute to her terrifying appearance. We really like the way that Tigrerra can stand on all fours or on her two back legs alone. Her legs also stretch easily in opposite directions to make her look as if she’s running at top speed.

We would have liked to see some background information about Dragonoid included on or in the box, but there was none. Kids who are familiar with the TV show will know all about Tigrerra already, but others will have to make up their own stories about him or do some sleuthing on the Bakugan Web site. Luckily, kids have great imaginations, and we think this lighting-fast predator will inspire hours of entertainment–especially when used with other deluxe monster figurines.

Bakugan: Battle Brawlers(2007) is a cartoon adaptation of the popular strategy game created by Sega Toys and Spin Master. Dan Kuso and his five on-line friends started playing Bakugan when game cards inexplicably fell from the sky. Using combinations of cards and special marbles that turn into monsters, they fight duels and win points. Dan loudly proclaims he’s going to become the all-time champion. He and his friends learn that Bakugan monsters have lives in the dimension of Vestroia. But the mysterious gamer Masquerade is destroying the monsters he defeats by sending them to the Doom Dimension. Battle Brawlers plays like a cross between Yu-Gi-Oh! and Pokemon. With his spikey hair, fingerless gloves and goggles, Dan looks like numerous other shonen (boys) anime heros; he’s nicer than Yugi, but he lacks Ash’s good heart. The Gorem is based on Bakugan monsters from the TV show, who look fearsome but use their powers for good. Your child aged four and up can play with this durable, colorful monster completely independent of the Bakugan Battle Brawlers game, or can use it to add excitement to their Bakugan battles (though the monsters are not officially part of the game.)

We would have liked to see some background information about Gorem included on or in the box, but there was none. Kids who are familiar with the TV show will know all about Gorem already, but others will have to make up their own stories about him or do some sleuthing on the Bakugan Web site. Luckily, kids have great imaginations, and we think this frightening Bakugan with his Darth Vader-style mask and yellow tongue will get the fun times rolling–especially when used with other deluxe monster figurines.

Kids who are familiar with the TV show will know all about Dragonoid already, but others will have to make up their own stories about him or do some sleuthing on the Bakugan Web site. The popular and fun anime TV series “Bakugan Battle Brawlers” has spawned this strategic game that pits a variety of “Bakugan warriors”–such as “Juggernoids,” “Fear rippers,” and “Robatallians”–against each other for points. With this Bakugan Battle Arena, kids ages 4 and above will enjoy the challenge of earning points in the large black arena by rolling their Bakugan (or shooting them from a launcher) onto magnetic cards where the plastic spheres burst open to reveal the fearsome warrior apparatus inside. For kids who love to play Bakugan Battle Brawlers, this fun-filled accessory will make their game play more enjoyable and feel more “professional.”

Ready, Set, Play!
The mission of Bakugan game play is to battle against other Bakugan to win the points awarded on the cards by getting your Bakugan to land on the cards. Players will love pretending to be one of the various characters in the show, such as the fiery 12-year-old leader “Dan” or the wise “Marucho,” and they gain a deeper understanding of the cards and warriors as they play.

The Battle Arena is easy to set up and use. Simply unfold the black plastic arena, and erect the red walls by using slots on the side. The walls prevent the spherical Bakugan from rolling away. Up to four players can battle it out in the arena. There are no instructions included about how to use the Battle Arena specifically, although there are instructions about how to play the game.

Note: This accessory does not include any Bakugan warriors or cards, which must be purchased separately.

Adding Fun and Excitement to Bakugan Battles
This easy-to-use accessory adds an entirely new element of fun and excitement to your child’s Bakugan play–especially if he is already a devotee of the game. We would have liked to see some instructions about the Battle Arena itself, including a description of what the various markings on the floor of the arena represent. We can only assume that kids who are fans of the Bakugan Battle Brawlers TV show will understand the arena and won’t need the instructions. But even if kids don’t watch the show, they can still enjoy this accessory–they simply set it up, get out their cards and Bakugan, and play!

Ready, Set, Play!
The mission of Bakugan game play is to battle against other Bakugan to win the points awarded on the cards by getting your Bakugan to land on card. Players will love pretending to be one of the various characters in the show, such as the fiery 12-year-old leader “Dan” or the wise “Marucho,” and they gain a deeper understanding of the cards and warriors as they play.

The Starter Pack includes instructions, making it an ideal way for newbies to get started with this fun and exciting game. The game itself is fairly straightforward, but if your child has never played before, you might have to help him or her to understand the rules — after reading and understanding them yourself. While some of the plastic Bakugan pieces are small and could easily get lost, others, like the Bakugan Deka, are as big as a softball.

The Starter Pack comes with three Bakugan and three cards — perfect for kids who are new to the game and who want to try it out. The illustrated instructions are easy to follow.

Exciting Magnetic Action
The Bakugan come in lots of colors and varieties that make them fun to collect and trade. Most of them are pocket-sized and easy for your child to carry around and bring over to their friend’s houses. Having a magnet that activates the warriors is a clever idea that adds excitement to the game. The Bakugan Launcher (sold separately) is a great accessory, with three shooting modes (“curve,” “angle, and “distance”), but it doesn’t come with any instructions.

Room for the Imagination
We like that this that this game combines skill (aiming your Bakugan) with strategy (placement of the cards). We also enjoyed the way the warriors pop open on the magnetic cards — although sometimes they do it even when they don’t land on the cards. Being unfamiliar with the TV show, we felt a little lost at first in the world of Bakugan. But with the help of the colorful, animated Bakugan Web site, we got the gist of what the game is about and how to play. Our attempts to fire the launcher proved somewhat difficult and instructions would have helped. But the launcher isn’t necessary. Kids can simply roll the Bakugan like marbles for a fun and action-packed game with their friends.
