Ouran High School Host Club: Season One, Part Two

Amazon.com

The second half of the reverse-harem comedy Ouran High School Host Club explores the characters’ pasts, offering insights into their odd personalities. Identical twins Hikaru and Kaoru never paid any attention to anyone else until Club president Tamaki recruited them; Kyoya, the neglected youngest son of a stern father, found his first friend when his parents insisted he hang out with Tamaki to help cement corporate relations. “Lolita boy” Mitsukuni followed his family tradition as a martial-arts champion. Despite their good looks, social prominence, and wealth, the boys led lonely lives. Tamaki’s Host Club has given them the one thing they lacked: a sense of belonging. Haruhi, the girl pretending to be a boy in the group, agrees. The warmth of that realization doesn’t prevent the Hosts from squabbling and behaving as insanely as they did in the first episodes, but it gives the series a balance that keeps it from feeling too silly. Although Ouran High School Host Club only ran for a single season, its popularity on both sides of the Pacific may well lead to sequels. The set includes a small 2009 print calendar of the Host Club members. (Rated TV 14: risque humor, including allusions to homosexuality and lesbianism) –Charles Solomon

Ouran Academy: An institution of extravagance and prestige where learning is secondary to luxury.

Haruhi began the year as an out of place scholarship student, but she’s found new popularity as a member of the Host Club. Playing the part of a sensitive suitor and wooing the ladies of the school has become a full-time job. Of course, now that Tamaki and the other boys can no longer deny the charms of her girly side, life feels more like a storybook daydream. But not all fairy tales have a happy ending. The King will have to choose between reality and fantasy – and his decision might force the Ouran Host Club to close their doors forever!

Season 1, Part 2 contains episodes 14-26.

Cromartie High School - Complete Collection

Product Description

Japan’s smartest comedy is totally stupid — and maybe that’s why we love it so! Based on Eiji Nanaka’s award-winning manga, CROMARTIE HIGH SCHOOL is an absurdist romp through Japan’s toughest, most notorious reform school. Populated by a motley crew of thugs, misfits, and the occasional gorilla, it won over legions of Japanese late night TV viewers. Now through this super affordable thin-pack, Japan’s #1 comedy is soon to become North America’s favorite funny anime. “A+” (Anime on DVD)
